WHAT’S WITH THE NAME?!

Since I started using the “name” above on my name card and PowerPoint presentations, quite a few people had asked me about the alphabets before and after.  What do they mean?  What do they stand for?  Are these typo errors?  Hahaha!

As many of us may know, doctors use “Dr.”, engineers use “Ir.”, and architects use “Ar.”.  My “Or.” is for ordinary!  And, “DhD” means Don’t have Degree!  I have deliberately chosen these alphabets base on Acts 4:13, which reads:

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, not well educated, laymen with no special training… or formal education; they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
Synthesized Version (NIV+MSG+CEV)

No, I do not despise academic pursuit.  No, I am not ridiculing titles.  Make no mistakes.  I have gone to university as a young man to study architecture (and I proud of this), and currently I am working on my Master in Ministry (and I am enjoying this).  I am also an ordained Presbyterian Elder, a Licensed Minister with the Assemblies of God, and an Associate Pastor with a local Evangelical Free Church.  I am humbled by all these credentials.  I am touched by the wide acceptance and wonderful opportunities to serve the larger Body of Christ.  I am grateful to God!  Praise His Name!

But above all, in the contexts of Act 4:13, my desire is to be taught by the Holy Spirit.  My wish is that people would simply take note of me as one who had been with Jesus.

And of course, such a peculiar name is quite a good conversation starter too…  Hahaha!

SERMONS & FOOD

For many Christians, they only feed on God's Word once a week.  And that would usually be on Sunday, or at the weekly Worship Service.  Hence, that once-a-week meal is so crucial...

Here are some thoughts on this matter:

NOT ANOTHER GOSPEL!!!
AGAINST FALSE GOSPEL Part 1

The Bible warned us in Gal 1:6-10 to be wary of attempts to pervert the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I pray that these Advocacy Initiatives would help us to be more discerning...

BEYOND SU
September 30 was my last as the Ministry Director of Scripture Union East & West Asia...

A NEW PHASE OF MINISTRY
A NEW SEASON IN LIFE

Nostalgic countdown as I move on from Scripture Union after serving some 22 years...

40 DAYS COUNTDOWN!!!
My family and I look ahead with a good mixture of anticipation and apprehension as we move beyond SU. In the Scriptures, often 40 is a symbolic of a new beginning...

30 DAYS COUNTDOWN!!!
It was at age 30 years old when I left Government Service (JKR) to go into Full-Time Christian Ministry. Incidentally, Jesus started His public ministry at age 30 too...

25 DAYS COUNTDOWN!!!
Praise the Lord for His strength, wisdom and grace in these last 25 years of Full-time Christian Ministry. I served three years in El-Shaddai Sanctuary AOG, before joining Scripture Union...

19 DAYS COUNTDOWN!!!
Some 19 years ago, my family and I relocated from Selayang to Ipoh to pioneer the SU Office there...

13 DAYS COUNT DOWN!!!
My last Sabbatical Leave was some 13 years ago. I was in a transition moving from the SU Camping Ministry Office (Ipoh) back to the SU Head Office (PJ), to take up the General Secretary role...

LAST & FINAL 4 DAYS COUNTDOWN...
I guess I am a little "emo" as I am about the cross the bridge and bring the SU Chapter to a closure. The last four years with SU East & West Asia have been a tremendous learning experience. Praise the Lord!
